Reverend Vernon visits KS2

Reverend Vernon visited Year 5 and 6. In Year 5, he discussed the meaning of the Eucharist and explained that symbolism of the bread and wine. Reverend Vernon then shared the meanings and importance of a range of words in eucharistic prayers. In Year 6, Reverend Vernon explained why some Christians use Easter songs in their everyday lives. He described how the emotions and words within Easter songs can affect Christians e.g. fear, anxiety, hope, relief and reassurance. Reverend Vernon also talked about why Easter Sunday is seen as a day of hope. He was very impressed with the knowledge, thoughts and opinions of the children in both year groups.

Staff Meeting at Cleadon Methodist Church

Staff headed up to Cleadon Methodist Church for a meeting lead by Reverend Jane and Reverend Vernon. Together we explored the beginnings of Christianity and how the different denominations came into being. We then identified the similarities and differences between each of the denominations. Meeting at the Methodist Church gave us an opportunity to explore the key features within the building and compare them with those found in All Saints Church. Thank you very much to Reverend Jane and Reverend Vernon on a very informative and interesting staff meeting.

Bible Study Group

At this week’s Bible Group, Year 1 and Year 2 explored the theme of forgiveness. After exploring the meaning of the parable of Zacchaeus the Tax Collector, the children identified ways they could forgive people who had upset them. Everyone then enjoyed their creative task. A big thank you to Marie and Helen for planning and delivering the session.

Growing Faith Award
What a wonderful morning we had at Church. We were delighted to receive the Growing Faith Award from Bishop Sarah for our exceptional partnership working with the Church. We are the first school to receive this since 2019 and only the second school to ever achieve this award. The whole service was beautiful with amazing singing from the children and the school choir. We were pleased to be joined by the Trust CEO and the Diocesan Director of Education who came to celebrate the school achieving the award. We will continue to develop these links further in 2025.
Peace Doves
For the last few weeks, every child in school has been extremely busy designing and decorating their own special peace dove. All the doves are currently on display in All Saints Church, Cleadon and together they make a marvellous sight.

Bible Study Group

This week, the Bible Study Group explored the theme of thankfulness. After exploring the story of the Ten Lepers, we created these beautiful flowers to show the people and things we are thankful for.

Staff Meeting in Church

All the staff enjoyed our termly visit to All Saints Church. Reverend Cuthbert cleverly tackled the tricky concept of the trinity using only an apple and peeler. Members of the congregation also took part in the session and even supplied refreshments.

Easter Experience

The children from Years 3 and 4 were invited to All Saints Church to take part in the Easter Experience. Reverend Cuthbert and some of the members of the congregation told the story of Easter through a series of prayer and reflection activities.
