World Book Day 2021

This year we held a very special ‘World Book Day’. The School Council were very excited to organise this event and had to think carefully about how it could be run both in school and at home.

We held a World Book Day on-line quiz in each key stage so that both home and school learners could take part. The Key Stage 2 quiz even had a question at the end of each round for the teachers and the grown-ups who were playing along at home.

Both children in school  and at home were invited to dress up for World Book Day. Lots of children dressed as their favourite character, wore a t-shirt with their favourite character on or created their own t-shirt. Everyone was invited to class Teams meetings to showcase their costumes.

We held a school wide competition to "Create Your Pet as a Book Character". The School Council are having a tough job deciding on the winner!

In honour of World Book Day we created our own Virtual Library. Click the picture below to access it. You can hear stories read by our staff and children.

World Book Day 2020

This year World Book Day was a little different. We challenged the children to create a T-shirt with clues to their favourite book on it. We had lots of fun guessing the stories and characters. Can you tell the book tittle by the clues on the shirts?

One of our favourite activities of the day was story sharing.

World Book Day 2019

We love World Book Day! The costumes and characters this year were the best we have ever seen! Well done to everyone who took part. Every year group had a fantastic day especially year 1 who had year 5 reading buddies.

World Book Day 2017

This half term the whole school is basing their Literacy lessons on the topic of pirates.  Each class is using a different story to encourage  reading and inspire writing. For World Book Day this year we held a pirate activity day.  The school was taken over by pirates of all shapes and sizes, there were even a few parrots!

World Book Day 2016

Here at school we love to read. One of our favourite days in the school year is World Book Day. Every year we dress as book characters and take part in a range of literary activities. In the gallery below you can see some of the fantastic book characters that we had in school on Friday. The teachers were so impressed by the amount of thought and effort that had been put into some of the costumes. We were especially proud of the children who had made their own costumes. If you look carefully at the pictures you may be able to spot Mr Twit, Willy Wonka, Mary Poppins, Mr Tickle, Cruella De Ville, The Snow Queen, The Demon Dentist and many many more.
