Our Careers Day on Wednesday the 21st March 2018 was an exciting morning for our Year 6 children We were joined by pupils from Marsden, Benedict Biscop and Ridgeway school. As always we were very grateful for the parents and friends of our school who give up their time. Their presentations were both engaging and informative. We were lucky enough to have a wide range of occupations from pharmacists to architects, engineers to beauticians ,and vets to florists. All the children enjoyed the opportunity to gain first-hand experience from our guests.
The 2017 Careers Fair proved very popular with our children. They loved trying out the various professions and asked lots of questions to our visitors. Many professions were represented including floristry, computer programming, policing and medical support.
Our 2016 Careers Fair welcomed a whole host of professionals eager to talk to our children about their chosen career. The children had a wonderful morning and our visiting schools we very pleased to have the opportunity to attend our event.
Our 2015 Careers Fair was a huge success with over 200 children from 5 different local schools coming together for the event. As with past years the staff of Cleadon Academy had done a brilliant job in lining up some really exciting people for the children to talk to. We were very happy to see the return of Architect Mr Craig Fitzakerly and the team from NISSAN. We also welcomed some new speakers including fashion designer Mrs Von Doring and community pharmacist Louise Lydon.
On Thursday 6th March 2014 we held our Careers Fair in our Social Display area. Our children were joined by the Year 6 pupils from Eslington, Whitburn and East Boldon Junior Schools. The children were lucky enough to be able to speak with over 25 different professionals from all walks of life. We had representatives from the medical profession, law enforcement, the media and the arts. Each professional brought with them some literature and the tools needed to do their jobs. The children had great fun testing each others eyes, styling hair, arranging flowers and even trying on some of the uniforms.
The fair was brilliant and we would like to say a big thank you to all the people who gave up their time to make it so successful. We would also like to say thanks to Miss Paterson, Mrs West and Mrs Buhaenko for organising the event. Finally we would like to thank the children who attended the event for their good behavior and enthusiasm.
Every year we hold a Careers Day for our Year 6 children. This year (2013) we were lucky enough to have stalls showing over 20 different professions. Year 6 had the opportunity to speak to doctors, lawyers, architects, florists, museum curators, opticians and even a chocolatier! The day was a huge success and our children were joined by Year 6 pupils from Bishop Harland School and Eslington Primary. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the people who volunteered to speak at this event.
